El Socorro Maracaturra
Originally part of Hacienda San Guayaba, the land was returned to the family in 1968. Coffee production began in 1980 under Juan de la Cerda Colom, and today the fourth generation—Juan de la Cerda and his son, Juan Diego—continue to produce some of the highest-rated coffees in Guatemala.
El Socorro is recognized for its meticulous approach to quality:
Selective hand-picking
Hot-water controlled fermentation developed through years of experimentation
Greenhouse & patio drying for stability and uniformity
Shade-grown environment preserving biodiversity
Solar-powered processing and ecological wet-mill with water recycling
Their commitment to innovation and environmental stewardship is a model for modern specialty coffee production.
